Soft yet saturated, DaRaun Crawford’s work reflects ideas that are vivid yet equally endearing. Through creating, he aims to capture the shifting emotions deriving from the most authentic part of ourselves, to hold and display for others to see.
His work is his interpretation of the duality between your genuine interior and perceived exterior. Inspired by the captivating stories and transcending mediums of anime, manga, and gaming, DaRaun developed a sanguine perspective with a sense of wonder, challenging preordained ideals which are traditionally adhered to.
Often through expressive character motifs, muses and vibrant palettes, his work represents this lack of conformity. It aims to reinforce and revive the dormant layers of our inner child in which the world persuasively removes - through growth and personal development. With each piece, DaRaun continues on his quest to redefine what this growth means for himself and for anyone who can identify and appreciate similar sentiments.
DaRaun has earned a B.A in Studio Arts from Northern Kentucky University and has a background in Design and Digital Media.
